Antique 19th Century French Gold Leaf Gilt Louis Philippe Mirror with Crest

This beautiful antique mirror was made in France around 1880. It is a pure Louis Philippe mirror with its upper rounded corners and elegant frame. The most elevated part of the frame has a floral engraving on both sides and a classic pearl beading surrounds the glass. The mirror has an ornate crest that features a central bowl with flowers flanked by C scrolls, acanthus, and floral elements. The mirror frame is completely gold leaf gilt and the gilding is in good condition and of high quality. The engraved parts were polished to a higher degree of shine to achieve slight color variations and enhance definition. The red bole undercoat in this particular piece is darker than average and gives the gold leaf gilding more depth. The mirror has its original silver nitrate silvered glass. The glass shows a few small spots and scratches all in line with its great age of nearly 150 years old.
