A beautiful antique French oval mirror that was made in France, circa 1890. The mirror frame is adorned with highly detailed ornaments that depict scrolls, acanthus, flowers, and leaves. The most elevated part of the frame has floral and cross etching. The mirror is mostly gold leaf gilt and patinated. The gold leaf is polished to different degrees to achieve variations in gold color and gloss. The silver nitrate silvered faceted mirror plate is original to the frame. The mirror plate shows a few small marks and a misty spot. It is a simple yet elegant golden mirror.
