A high karat rare gold Byzantine cross with beautiful open work and circular scroll work is centered by an emerald of the same period. Tiny baubles of gold are placed at each cross end and round the gemstone. The cross was made approximately one thousand to fifteen hundred AD. The magnificent gold workmanship is a treasure to behold. The condition is very good and wearable. The is 40 mm (1.58 inches) and width is 31.5mm. (1 1/4 inches) the weight is 6.57 grams.
