Georgian Era Antique Ruby Diamond Cross Pendant, 1700s

This rare 18th century gold (approximately 16.5K) and silver cross is embellished with rubies and rose cut diamonds set in rub-over settings. The center ruby is of an oval cut, other 9 rubies are of a table cut. The rubies of the cross symbolize the Sacrificial Blood that shed Jesus Christ. The diamonds are set in silver over gold. Gold alloy lab report: 68.54% pure gold, 24.66% silver, 6.61% copper, 0.12% zinc, 0.05% nickel. The two rose gold suspension rings are a later replacement. Weight 6.12 grams. Size of the cross without rings 37 x 30 mm (1 1/2 x 1 1/8 in.)
