Niello Jewelry was made for a short number of years around. c.1870 in England and Russia. It is characterized by small, tiny actually geometric shapes made by carving the silver out and filling it with an alloy of sulphur, lead, copper and silver. Meticulous work with no slip of the hand allowed. This locket shows minuscule squares incised on both front and back. It hold a photograph for your smile making memory. Excellent condition.
